Deliberate Acts on High-Speed Lines, Trains Delayed by Over 90 Minutes. Salvini: 'Criminal Actions'
High-speed train services between Rome-Naples and Rome-Florence have been significantly disrupted due to deliberate acts, leading to delays of up to 90 minutes.
Train services on the high-speed routes between Rome and Naples, as well as Rome and Florence, faced major disruptions this morning due to two confirmed deliberate acts, with a third incident still under investigation. The railway authorities reported that they will allow technical teams to address the issues only after the judicial authority has completed their inspections, which are crucial for maintaining infrastructure integrity.
In the case of the Rome-Naples line, an anomaly was reported between Salone and Labico, where technicians discovered damage to the tunnels housing the cables that control train operations; these cables were found to be burned. Meanwhile, on the Rome-Florence line, another deliberate act was identified between Tiburtina and Settebagni, resulting in further train delays and route changes. A third incident is also being verified between Capena and Gallese, contributing to the overall disruption of services.
The impact on travelers has been significant, with delays reaching up to 90 minutes. Minister Matteo Salvini commented on the situation, labeling these incidents as criminal actions, indicating a serious concern for public safety and the need for prompt resolution. The disruptions not only affect daily commuters but also highlight vulnerabilities in transportation infrastructure that require immediate attention from authorities to prevent future occurrences.
