Jacarezinho asks for 'clemency' against likely relegation after problems: 'Parading in ease is easy', says Xande de Pilares
The Unidos do Jacarezinho samba school expressed its plea for clemency to avoid relegation following significant challenges during their parade.
The Unidos do Jacarezinho samba school has made a heartfelt appeal to the Rio de Janeiro City Hall and LigaRJ in hopes of avoiding relegation to the Intendente Magalhães series after facing severe difficulties during their performance in the Série Ouro. The school's parade was marred by numerous issues, including entire sections without costumes, simplistic floats, and a two-minute disruption due to fire incidents that significantly compromised their preparations for the 2026 Carnival.
The school's directors explained that two recent fires, one occurring earlier this month, severely impacted their readiness for the festival. The samba school themed its performance around Xande de Pilares, who joined the last float to express solidarity and encouragement. Xande emphasized on the challenges of performing under pressure, stating, "Parading in ease is easy" and appreciated how difficulties help reveal strengths that may be unrecognized under normal circumstances.
Thiago Acácio, the school's interpreter, noted the loss of 12 sections due to the fires, stressing the importance of maintaining hope and faith as they request clemency. The appeal to the authorities reflects both the passion and resilience of the Jacarezinho community amidst the setbacks faced, highlighting the broader implications for their future participation in Carnival and the preservation of their cultural identity in the samba scene.
