Noida: Raids by Anti-Human Trafficking Unit at Massage Parlors, Youths Detained
Noida police conducted raids on three spa centers suspected of illegal activities, detaining several young individuals for questioning.
The Noida police carried out late-night raids on three spa centers in Sector 50, acting on complaints about illegal operations at these establishments. The operation involved not only the local police from Sector-49 but also the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) and the Human Rights Commission. During the raid, police detained several youths and young women for questioning, indicating a serious investigation into the activities taking place within these parlors.
There were prior complaints regarding the illegal activities at these spa centers, prompting the joint task force to initiate the operation. In the course of the raids, the police examined the documents, licenses, and other records of the spa centers to ascertain their compliance with local laws. Initial findings suggested that these facilities were operating without adhering to the designated regulatory norms, thus leading to a broader initiative to check such establishments across the region.
The raids generated a significant commotion in the nearby areas, highlighting the community's response to potential illicit activities. ADC of Police Noida, Manisha Singh, noted the ongoing inquiry and emphasized the importance of regulation and oversight within the spa industry, generally perceived as vulnerable to unlawful activities such as human trafficking and sex work. This incident reflects a growing awareness and crackdown on human trafficking practices in India, aiming to protect vulnerable populations from exploitation.
