On Saturday the sun will shine and snowfall will cease
Weather conditions in Latvia will improve on Saturday, with snowfall ending and clearer skies expected in most regions.
The forecast for Saturday in Latvia indicates a transition to clearer weather as snowfall ceases. While Latgale will continue to experience cloudy conditions and snow until morning, the rest of the country is expected to see a significant decline in precipitation throughout the day. Winds from the north and northeast are also expected to diminish, reaching maximum gusts of 8-13 meters per second, although more intense gusts of up to 19 meters per second may still occur along the North Kurzeme coast in the evening hours.
Temperatures will experience a drastic drop overnight, with lows expected between -9 to -14 degrees Celsius in the morning and slightly improving to around -5 to -10 degrees during the day. In the capital city of Riga, conditions are also projected to clear up, but some intermittent snowfall may still affect visibility and travel due to the north wind bringing in light snow. The temperatures in Riga will start at around -11 degrees in the morning, rising to about -8 degrees by midday.
As a result, while the values suggest a crisp winter day ahead, road conditions may remain hazardous, with snow drifts anticipated on the highways. It is advisable for travelers to exercise caution due to the ongoing cold and the potential for icy roads. Overall, the expected shift in weather marks a welcomed change for many residents who may have been affected by the harsh winter conditions in recent days.
