PÖFF's new artistic director Triin Tramberg: I will not make major changes right away

Triin Tramberg, the new artistic director of PÖFF, expresses her intention to maintain continuity and dialogue following her appointment.

Triin Tramberg, recently appointed as the artistic director of the Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) in Estonia, stated in an interview that she plans to avoid making immediate major changes. While she acknowledges the respect and some disagreements with her mother, Tiina Lokk, the festival's founder, Tramberg emphasizes the importance of open communication between them. This transition marks a significant generational shift within the PÖFF leadership.

As the festival approaches its 30th anniversary, notable changes are underway. Mikk Granström, who has previously led the Just Film section, will now focus more on the main festival. The children's and youth film festival will be taken over by Jan Joonas Pevkur, a 21-year-old who has been part of the programming team. This restructuring reflects a fresh direction for PÖFF as it celebrates this milestone, with a mix of established and emerging leaders at the helm.

Tramberg is not new to PÖFF; she has been involved with the festival for over 15 years, starting her journey as an assistant to the program coordinator while still at university. Her experience ensures continuity in the festival's vision while also being open to the evolution that comes with new leadership. The passing of the baton from mother to daughter signifies a new chapter for PÖFF, poised to innovate while respecting its rich traditions and history.
