On Friday, the Canadian men's hockey team achieved a convincing victory in their second match of the Olympic tournament in Milan, ensuring their top position in their group and advancing to the quarterfinals. In this match, they faced Switzerland in the A group and ended the game with a 5-1 score. Connor McDavid opened the scoring in the sixth minute, followed by Thomas Harley extending Canada's lead to 2-0 shortly thereafter. Switzerland managed to respond with a goal from Pius Suter, taking advantage of a power play and a missed save by Canadian goalie Logan Thompson.
In the second period, Canada strengthened their lead with a goal from MacLean Celebrini, and in the final third, both Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon added goals, bringing Canadaβs total to five. Notably, McDavid and MacKinnon ended the match with three points each, showcasing their offensive strengths.
