Car magazine finds an exceptionally durable car that can withstand harsh driving for up to 500,000 kilometers – and no, it's not a Toyota
A Mercedes-Benz A-Class has impressively reached 500,000 kilometers without significant issues in a durability test conducted by Auto Bild.
The Mercedes-Benz A 180 from the W176 body style, manufactured between 2012 and 2018, has achieved an impressive milestone of 500,000 kilometers in a durability test by the German car magazine Auto Bild. The test began on January 10, 2013, and the vehicle performed so reliably during the first 100,000 kilometers that the magazine decided to continue testing. Interestingly, the car did not suffer from any significant malfunctions even after reaching 200,000 and 300,000 kilometers.
As the car reached the 400,000-kilometer mark in March 2022, it continued to operate without any major problems. The manual transmission petrol model has been driven rigorously throughout the tests, including long highway journeys at high speeds. According to Auto Bild, the A-Class has not encountered any major breakdowns, and only routine parts replacements were necessary throughout its extensive testing period.
This extraordinary performance of the Mercedes-Benz A 180 stands out especially when compared to other vehicles that may not withstand such intense usage. It underscores the engineering quality and reliability that can be found in certain models of Mercedes-Benz, which may challenge the preconceived notion that only brands like Toyota can produce durable cars.
