Paedophile dies three weeks into 21-year jail sentence for historic child sex offences

Paul Withnell, aged 74, died at HMP Parc in Bridgend just weeks into serving a 21-year prison sentence for multiple counts of historic child sexual abuse that occurred during the 1980s. His sentencing took place on January 16, after which a Cardiff Crown Court judge criticized him for showing 'not one single shred of remorse' for his actions. The prison where he was held is operated by G4S, a private security company.
