'A market worth 55 to 60 trillion dollars is opening up..' Goyal speaks on EU and US deals
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced that a significant market between the U.S. and the EU valued at $55-60 trillion is being opened for Indian exporters, ensuring the protection of farmers' interests.
Piyush Goyal, India's Commerce and Industry Minister, announced that a substantial market worth approximately $55-60 trillion is being opened for Indian exporters through deals with the United States and the European Union. Speaking at a business summit, Goyal emphasized that these deals would not only boost the economy but also secure the interests of farmers and ensure that over 95% of agricultural produce remains protected.
In his address, Goyal also addressed concerns regarding job losses due to artificial intelligence, clarifying that AI is not meant to replace human workers but rather to change the way work is conducted. He urged the importance of being prepared for such technological changes, highlighting the need for reforms and the establishment of free trade agreements (FTAs) with various countries including New Zealand, the UK, Oman, and the EU, alongside a finalization of a bilateral trade agreement with the U.S.
Goyal pointed out that India is rapidly progressing under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, with a renewed focus on reforms and trade partnerships that are expected to invigorate the economy. The announcement comes amidst changing global trade dynamics, signifying India's strategic positioning in international markets, and emphasizing the necessity for domestic stakeholders to adjust to new opportunities and challenges.
