Heavy rains cause 3 accidents involving cargo vehicles in the same day in MT
Three truck accidents occurred in Mato Grosso, Brazil, within one day due to rain and poor road conditions.
On Thursday (12), three accidents involving trucks and trailers were reported on a highway and two other roads in Mato Grosso, Brazil, as a result of the slippery and poor conditions caused by heavy rainfall. The incidents occurred on the highways MT-100, MT-235, and E-60, with various regions of the state affected. The accidents led to the deaths of several animals, injuries to a driver, and roads covered in mud and scattered cargo.
One of the notable incidents involved a truck carrying cattle that overturned on MT-100, resulting in the death of three animals and injuries to five. The truck was transporting approximately 55 animals, and the accident incurred a loss estimated at R$150,000. A representative from the transporting company stated that the road is in a critically poor state of maintenance, exacerbating the risk during rainy conditions.
The series of accidents highlights the ongoing issues related to infrastructure and road maintenance in the region, especially during adverse weather conditions. Local authorities may face pressure to address these safety concerns given the significant impact on both human and animal life, as well as economic repercussions due to damaged cargo and vehicles.
