New rules for chair, beach umbrella, and jet ski rentals in Maceió; understand

The city of Maceió has implemented new regulations for beach rentals, affecting the number of beach equipment and prohibiting jet ski rentals.

The Municipality of Maceió has recently published Ordinance No. 012/2026, which introduces new rules for vendors operating along the city's beaches. One of the significant changes is the limitation on the number of beach equipment rentals on the sand, where each rental module for beach kits, comprising chairs and umbrellas, can only consist of up to 20 units. This limit can be adjusted depending on the authorized registration of the vendor and the tidal conditions.

In addition to limiting the number of available rentals, the new regulations stipulate that a vendor cannot set up more than five kits at the start of the day without a prior customer request. This approach aims to prevent excessive occupation of the beach area, which can affect public access and safety. The updated rules suggest a move towards more sustainable beach management practices, ensuring a balance between commercial activities and public space access.

The Municipal Secretary of Citizen Safety (Semsc) emphasizes that these changes are designed to improve the overall experience at Maceió's beaches while addressing concerns regarding overcrowding and environmental management. By regulating the rental practices, the city aims to provide a safer and more enjoyable environment for both residents and tourists.
