Art and biodiversity in the Cosquín Rock 2026 tower-forest

The 'Vuelta al Monte' installation at Cosquín Rock 2026 blends art, architecture, and technology to promote awareness of native Córdoba species.

At the Cosquín Rock 2026 event, the Santa María de Punilla Aerodrome unveiled 'La Vuelta al Monte', a monumental installation by Estudio Rare that merges architecture, art, and technology to raise awareness about the importance of native species from the Córdoba mountains. This installation, which won the 'Todo Cambia - Art and Nature' contest, stands as a ten-meter tall vertical forest designed with sustainability in mind and aims to contribute positively beyond the festival itself.

The structure features an octagonal tower with six consecutive platforms that house various species native to the Córdoba sierras. This modular sequence creates an authentic elevated ecosystem, offering visitors a multisensory experience. Each level of the installation serves as a nursery and refuge, incorporating a misting irrigation system that creates a dynamic atmosphere for attendees while helping to promote biodiversity.

Once the festival concludes and the installation is dismantled, it will be transformed into a greenhouse and donated to an NGO focused on producing native flora. This forward-thinking approach not only highlights the significance of conservation and environmental awareness but also emphasizes the potential for art to make a lasting, positive impact on the community and ecosystem.
