On the last Friday before Ramadan, occupation forces storm Al-Aqsa Mosque and tighten measures around it
In the final Friday before Ramadan, Israeli authorities intensified security measures at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its surroundings, impacting worshippers' access.
On the last Friday before Ramadan, Israeli authorities imposed heightened security measures at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and in Jerusalem, leading to significant disruptions for worshippers. According to a daily report from the Jerusalem governorate, the Israeli forces set up barriers and stopped worshippers on their way to the mosque, checking their identities and restricting access for many, forcing some to pray outside the gates.
During the Friday prayers, which saw the attendance of tens of thousands, Israeli forces stormed the area around the Qibly Mosque and the Dome of the Rock, intensifying their presence particularly at the northern gate, Bab al-Silsila. They installed iron barriers and conducted random inspections of young men and women heading to the mosque, obstructing the entry of many worshippers and making it difficult for them to reach the mosque for prayers.
In response to the restrictions, those who were banned from entering the mosque held their Friday prayers at the road of the Mujahideen nearby, as Israeli forces continued to tighten their control over movements around the holy site. This incident underscores the ongoing tensions and challenges faced by worshippers attempting to access a site of profound religious significance during a sensitive period leading up to Ramadan.
