Operation seizes over R$ 35 thousand in cash and three people are arrested in Búzios
Police operation in Búzios leads to the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of over R$ 35,000 in cash tied to drug trafficking.
An operation conducted by the Military Police and the Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ) led to the arrest of two individuals for drug trafficking in the morning of October 12 in Búzios, a popular tourist destination in Brazil's state of Rio de Janeiro. The coordinated effort targeted four neighborhoods and successfully confiscated more than R$ 35,000 in cash, along with narcotics and paraphernalia associated with drug preparation and sale.
The operation involved simultaneous search and seizure warrants executed in the neighborhoods of Centro, Vila Caranga, Alto de Búzios, and José Gonçalves. These neighborhoods had been identified as key areas for drug-related activity, with law enforcement aiming to diminish the influence of the leading drug trafficking figure in the central region of the municipality. The timing of the operation was crucial, taking place during the early hours to maximize effectiveness and reduce the potential for criminal escape.
During the course of the operation, a total of three individuals were taken into custody, including two men aged 28 and 46 years and a 25-year-old woman. The confiscated items include not only cash but also drugs and tools used for drug distribution, signifying a significant disruption to local drug trafficking operations. This proactive approach by police underscores ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crime in coastal tourism areas, which are increasingly under scrutiny for trafficking activities.
