Cell phone found near the home of missing elderly is Silvana Aguiar's, police say
Authorities have confirmed that a cell phone discovered near the home of missing woman Silvana Germann de Aguiar is indeed hers, as the investigation into the family's disappearance continues.
The Civil Police in Brazil have officially confirmed that a cell phone, found on February 7 near the home and market of the Aguiar family, belongs to Silvana Germann de Aguiar. The 48-year-old woman, along with her parents Isail Vieira de Aguiar and Dalmira Germann de Aguiar, has been missing for 20 days. The phone's discovery followed an anonymous tip, prompting the police to expedite its forensic examination. This piece of evidence is deemed crucial in piecing together the circumstances surrounding the family's disappearance.
Police delegate Anderson Spier stated that the data extracted from the phones can significantly aid the investigation by providing context to the events leading up to their disappearance. The investigation took a significant turn with the arrest of a military police officer, Cristiano Domingues Francisco, who is suspected of being involved in the disappearance. The authorities have also seized the phones of Francisco and his current partner, but they have reportedly not provided their phone passwords to the police, further complicating the investigation.
As the investigation unfolds, the focus remains on establishing a timeline and understanding the last known movements of the Aguiar family. The temporary arrest of the police officer raises questions about possible connections, and the police are working rigorously to uncover any hidden links that could lead to finding Silvana and her parents. The case has attracted attention not only due to the missing individuals but also because of the implications involving a police officer, which can complicate public trust in law enforcement's role in the investigation.
