Zamir from Rafah: We will not concede on disarming Gaza and dismantling Hamas

Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir states that the primary goal of the war on Gaza is to completely disarm the region and dismantle Hamas, as he visited the southern city of Rafah accompanied by senior military leaders.

During a visit to Rafah in southern Gaza, Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir reiterated that the central objective of the military campaign remains unchanged: the complete disarmament of Gaza and the dismantling of Hamas. His comments came as he was accompanied by senior military leaders, including the commander of the southern command and the Gaza Division commander. Zamir described the current phase of the conflict as Israel preparing to shift from a defensive to an offensive stance, vowing that the army will respond vigorously to any violations and work to deprive the "enemy" of their capabilities, referring specifically to Palestinian resistance forces.

Zamir elaborated on the ongoing military operations, highlighting that the Israeli army is increasingly focusing on dismantling underground infrastructure, which he labels as terrorist structures. He claimed that the war had reached unprecedented achievements, pointing out that all front-line brigades belonging to Hamas had been destroyed. This builds the narrative that the Israeli military is making significant strides in the conflict, underscoring its intention to maintain pressure on Hamas and its operational capabilities.

In addition, Zamir emphasized the strategic positioning of the army along a security line known as the 'yellow line', asserting control over the crossings into the Gaza Strip. He indicated that efforts to systematically dismantle what he describes as terrorist infrastructure will continue, as Israeli forces remain prepared for operations on multiple fronts. These developments occur within the broader context of escalating military actions in Gaza, reflecting Israel's determination to eliminate perceived threats from Hamas and stabilize security in the region.
