Rosas de Ouro, the current champion of the SP Carnival, is punished by the League of Samba Schools
Rosas de Ouro, the reigning champion of São Paulo's Carnival, has been penalized by the Liga Independente das Escolas de Samba for failing to submit essential documentation on time.
The Liga Independente das Escolas de Samba de São Paulo has imposed a half-point penalty on Rosas de Ouro, the current champion of the city's Carnival, due to the school's failure to meet the deadline for submitting technical documentation to the judges. This documentation was required to be printed and delivered to the Liga's headquarters by 11:59 PM on the previous Monday, a deadline the school did not meet.
In response to the penalty, Rosas de Ouro acknowledged the sanction and conveyed that it would not disrupt their preparations for the upcoming Carnival parade. A representative from the samba school stated, "Our community, our segments, and the entire board remain united, focused, and determined to put on a spectacular show that lives up to our history and the affection of Carnival lovers. We continue steadfast, with responsibility, respect, and above all, determination." This statement reflects the school's commitment to overcoming the setback and delivering a memorable performance.
Rosas de Ouro is scheduled to be the fifth group to perform on the samba parade stage at Anhembi on Friday. Their theme for this year's parade, titled "Escrito nas Estrelas" (Written in the Stars), promises to delve into the concept of astrology, potentially showcasing celestial elements and connecting with a wide audience's fascination with the stars. The decision to uphold their ambitious theme despite the penalty highlights the resilience and spirited nature of the samba school's leadership as they prepare for one of the most critical events in Brazil's cultural calendar.
