The Russian statistical agency, Rosstat, has stopped publishing salary information for state and local government employees, as reported by the opposition portal, 'The Moscow Times.' Previously, such data had been disclosed annually, but a directive from President Vladimir Putin in December 2025 has led to increased opacity regarding income reporting from government officials. This change dismantles rules that have mandated income declaration since 1995, suggesting a trend towards greater secrecy in governmental affairs.
