An 18-year-old student in Kota, India, who was preparing for the NEET examination, allegedly committed suicide by consuming a toxic substance.
A tragic incident has been reported from Kota, Rajasthan, where an 18-year-old girl named Juhi Patel died after allegedly consuming a poisonous substance. This incident is being treated as a suspected suicide, according to local police. Juhi had moved from Chhatarpur district in Madhya Pradesh to Kota approximately two and a half months ago specifically to prepare for the NEET-UG exam and had been living in a rented room in the Basant Vihar locality.
Juhi was reportedly engaged in self-study and participating in offline mock test series for her NEET preparation. On Thursday night, around 11:30 PM, she ingested poison in her room. Following this, her health rapidly deteriorated, and she began to vomit. Neighbors and her landlord rushed her to the New Medical College Hospital for treatment, but unfortunately, she succumbed to her condition shortly thereafter.
This incident sheds light on the immense pressure faced by students in India, particularly those preparing for competitive exams like NEET. The academic environment can sometimes lead students to overwhelming stress and despair, raising concerns about mental health support and intervention in such high-stakes situations. Police investigations are underway to determine the full circumstances surrounding Juhi's tragic death, emphasizing the urgent need for addressing mental health resources for students in similar situations.
