Porto Velho will have an exclusive 'block' for sound systems
Porto Velho's city hall has announced an event specifically for sound trucks, called 'carnaparedão', after previously banning their use during Carnival celebrations.
The city of Porto Velho has enacted a ban on the use of sound trucks and sound systems during Carnival blocks, aiming to maintain public order and reduce noise disruptions in the community. To accommodate enthusiasts and allow for celebrations without disturbing residents, the city hall has organized a dedicated event known as 'carnaparedão', set to occur on February 17 at the Avenida Lauro Sodré, adjacent to the Parque Circuito.
The choice of location for this exclusive event was carefully considered to minimize noise impact on local residents while still enabling participants to enjoy the festivities. The event is slated to take place from 12 PM to 10 PM and will feature sound systems situated up to the bend toward the airport area, clearly demarcating a space for entertainment that respects community welfare.
While the 'carnaparedão' event will provide a special venue for sound system enthusiasts during the Carnival period, the administration has reiterated that sound trucks remain prohibited during regular Carnival parades. This decision follows guidance from the Military Police to ensure roads remain unobstructed and to uphold the right of citizens to live in a peaceful environment during the festivities.
