Nearly one in three Finns forget the important rule of laundry washing – resulting in increasingly smelly laundry
A significant portion of the Finnish population fails to measure the correct amount of laundry detergent, leading to various washing issues.
According to a report by Kiillo’s brand and category manager, Reetta Kaurila, almost one-third of Finns do not measure laundry detergent correctly when doing laundry. This careless practice can lead to various negative outcomes, such as leaving stains on clothing, causing skin irritations, and creating buildup in washing machines. It highlights a prevalent issue among consumers regarding laundry practices that could affect garment care and hygiene.
Kaurila emphasizes the importance of selecting the appropriate washing program and reading clothing labels as fundamental aspects of good laundry practices. However, improper dosing of laundry detergent remains one of the most critical rules that many overlook. Studies indicate that a significant number of Finnish laundry-doers use liquid detergent without measuring it accurately, which can lead to either excessive or insufficient detergent usage. Using too much detergent may leave residues on clothes, while using too little can result in inadequate cleaning.
In light of these findings, Kaurila advises consumers to carefully read dosing instructions and suggests using tools like the cap of the detergent bottle or a tablespoon for accurate measurement. This advice aims to ensure not only cleaner laundry but also better maintenance of washing machines, which can suffer from neglect due to improper detergent usage. Educating the public on these simple yet effective laundry techniques could significantly enhance overall laundry experiences for Finnish households.
