Court blow to J. Arlauskaitė-Jazzu's mother: she will have to pay a substantial amount
A court ruled that Auksė Arlauskienė, the mother of singer Justė Arlauskaitė-Jazzu, must pay a total of €279,594 in debt, interest, and penalties.
In a recent ruling by the Vilnius District Court, Auksė Arlauskienė, the mother of popular Lithuanian singer Justė Arlauskaitė, was ordered to pay a total of €279,594 to the plaintiff D.T. This amount includes a principal debt of €161,546, late fees of €77,387, and interest of €40,660, along with an additional 5% procedural interest. Furthermore, the court ruled that Arlauskienė would also be responsible for €8,135 in legal fees incurred by the plaintiff.
The case arose from a civil lawsuit filed by D.T. seeking to recover nearly €356,000 that included loans, penalties, and interest owed by Arlauskienė and her daughter, Arlauskaitė. However, the court dismissed the claims against Justė Arlauskaitė herself, indicating that the legal responsibilities lay solely with her mother. This ruling is significant for the Arlauskaitė family, as it highlights the legal implications of business dealings and financial responsibilities.
Additionally, the court's decision can be appealed to the Lithuanian Court of Appeals within 30 days, which provides an opportunity for Auksė Arlauskienė to contest the ruling if she chooses. The case has gained public attention not only due to the high-profile nature of those involved but also because it raises questions about financial management and accountability in public figures' personal lives.
