Evans leads in Sweden, Solberg went off into the ditch

Elfyn Evans maintains his lead in the second round of the World Rally Championship in Sweden, while Oliver Solberg faces difficulties after going off-track twice.

In the second round of the World Rally Championship held in Sweden, Elfyn Evans is in the lead after four stages, driving a Toyota. He is followed by Takamoto Katsuta, who trails by 14.5 seconds, and Sami Pajari in third place, 23.3 seconds behind. The rally started off with high expectations, especially for local driver Oliver Solberg, who won the opening stage on Thursday but quickly lost his position in the following stage after spinning out and shutting off his car.

Solberg’s challenges continued as he veered off the track twice during the third stage but managed to continue racing both times. Currently, he is in fifth place, 36.3 seconds behind Evans, facing close competition from Hyundai's Esapekka Lappi, who is just 1.4 seconds behind him. Solberg acknowledged the difficulties he faced, indicating that heavy snow caused his car's rear to get stuck, leading to his off-track incident. His race strategy appeared to struggle against the snowy conditions that have impacted several competitors' performances.

Furthermore, Adrien Fourmaux is also closing in on Solberg with only a tenth of a second separating them, while former world champion Thierry Neuville is positioned in seventh place, trailing by 1 minute and 37.4 seconds. The current standings suggest a competitive race ahead, with drivers needing to adapt to both the rally's demands and the difficult weather conditions to secure their positions in the championship.
