Snowplow driver stopped for drug driving

A snowplow driver was arrested in Præstø, Denmark, for driving under the influence of drugs after being reported by the public.

On Friday morning in Præstø, Denmark, a snowplow driver was awakened by the police while he was sleeping in his truck. The Mid and West Zealand Police received several reports from citizens alerting them that the driver might be under the influence of drugs. Given that the truck weighed 42 tons and was equipped with a snowplow, authorities described it as a particularly dangerous vehicle to have on the roads with an impaired driver behind the wheel.

The driver, a 45-year-old man, was found at a rest area with the engine running when the police arrived. Upon testing, he tested positive for cocaine and admitted to driving under the influence. Following this, he underwent a blood test and was released. Vice Police Inspector Thomas Hartmann, leader of the Heavy Vehicle Center East, thanked the citizens who reported the driver's behavior, highlighting the importance of community vigilance in ensuring road safety.

This incident raises significant concerns regarding public safety, especially during winter when snowplows are crucial for maintaining safe road conditions. The involvement of heavy machinery under the influence can lead to severe accidents, reinforcing the need for strict enforcement of drug driving laws and encouraging public reporting of such incidents at all times.
