Ukrainian skeleton athlete banned from Olympics appeals decision to CAS: I know I am innocent
Ukrainian skeleton athlete Vladyslav Heraskevych appealed a ban from the International Olympic Committee after displaying a helmet honoring victims of the war initiated by Russia.
Ukrainian skeleton athlete Vladyslav Heraskevych has appealed a ban imposed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) after he attempted to honor those who lost their lives in the conflict triggered by Russia at the Milan Cortina Games. Heraskevych wore a helmet during training that depicted over 20 sports figures who perished in the war, including teenage weightlifter Alina Peregudova, boxer Pavlo Ischenko, and hockey player Oleksii Loginov. Despite being banned from wearing the helmet, he chose to compete in the same headgear, leading the IOC to hand down a disqualification citing the Olympic Charter's prohibition on political statements at the games.
