Unified Payment Site for Free Flow Toll for Vehicles without Tags; See How to Check
A new unified payment site for free flow tolls in São Paulo allows drivers without electronic tags to pay their tolls within 30 days after passing through toll points.
In São Paulo, the government under Tarcísio de Freitas has initiated a free flow toll system known as Siga Fácil, which eliminates the need for vehicles to stop at toll booths. Instead of traditional toll plazas, the new system employs portals equipped with cameras that automatically identify vehicle plates and tags while the vehicles are in motion. This innovation is designed to streamline traffic and enhance the efficiency of toll collection on state highways.
For vehicles equipped with valid tags, charges are processed automatically by the contracted operator. However, drivers without these tags are not left at a disadvantage; they have a grace period of up to 30 days to settle their toll payments. This flexibility allows users to avoid immediate payment while utilizing the convenient free flow system. To facilitate this process further, the highway operators are expected to offer various digital platforms, including websites and apps, as well as physical locations for payment.
Last year, the São Paulo government launched a dedicated website aimed at unifying the toll payment process, making it easier for drivers to manage their payments in one place. This move reflects broader trends toward digitization in public services and aims to enhance user experience in navigating the new toll system as it becomes more widely implemented across the state's highways.
