Russia attacks port in Odesa Oblast overnight: one person killed
A Russian drone strike on a port in Odesa Oblast killed one person and injured six others, marking an escalation in attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure.
Russian forces conducted a drone strike on a port in Odesa Oblast during the night of February 12-13, resulting in the death of one individual and injuries to six others, three of whom are in serious condition. All injured parties have received medical treatment. The strike caused considerable damage to port infrastructure, including fertiliser warehouses and goods wagons, leading to a fire at the site.
Oleksii Kuleba, Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister, emphasized the impact of the strikes, noting that in addition to the incident in Odesa, Russian drones were also deployed against railway infrastructure in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, fortunately without causing any casualties. This pattern of strikes points to a deliberate targeting of essential infrastructure, likely aiming to disrupt logistics and supplies crucial to both military and civilian operations in Ukraine.
The strikes coincide with a broader context where local authorities reported a power outage in the city of Kherson following the attacks. This showcases the ongoing challenges Ukraine faces as it works to secure its infrastructure and manage the humanitarian consequences of the conflict. The situation remains critical as the country grapples with continuous threats and escalations from Russian military actions.
