In January, Lithuania reported an annual inflation rate of 3.1%, reflecting broader economic trends. The consumer goods prices rose by 1.9% year-on-year, while service prices increased by 6%. Furthermore, prices administered by state and municipal institutions saw a 3% rise, alongside a 3.2% increase in market prices. The combined effect of these increases suggests a moderate inflationary environment, impacted by various sectors including transportation, food services, and energy. The report highlights specific sectors driving inflation, notably the costs associated with personal vehicle maintenance, public catering services like restaurants, and essential utilities including heating. On a month-to-month basis, consumer goods prices surged by 1.9%, while service prices recorded a more modest rise of 0.6%. Price adjustments for state-controlled goods and services were also notable, signaling inflationary pressures are present in both regulated and market-driven sectors. In terms of year-on-year inflation contributors, alcoholic beverages and tobacco saw the highest increases at 7.2%, while restaurant and accommodation services followed closely behind at 5.8%. Despite some price hikes, certain categories, such as fuel and electricity, have experienced reduced costs, indicating a mixed inflation landscape influenced by both rising and falling sector prices.
