Dairy Renewed – Expensive but Reliable Equipment
The Alytus dairy plant has updated much of its equipment to enhance milk product quality amidst increasing demand.
The Alytus dairy plant, operated by the Norfa Group's production and logistics company Rivona, processes between 100 and 120 tons of milk daily. This operational scale has allowed the plant to meet the growing demand for dairy products, which increases by 10-15% annually due to a wider product range and a growing customer base.
In the past year, the facility has undergone significant equipment upgrades, now integrating new technologies aimed at improving product quality further. With approximately 95% of the dairy's output being sold through Norfa's retail chain, the company is optimistic that these updates will help cater to the rising consumer appetite for milk products. Furthermore, the dairy exclusively purchases milk from Lithuanian farms to maintain quality and support local agriculture.
Under the management of Laima Balionienė, the dairy produces over 100 different dairy products, including more than 30 varieties of edible ice cream during the warmer months. This commitment to local sourcing and quality enhancement positions the Alytus dairy as a notable player in the Lithuanian dairy industry, leveraging its upgrades to stay competitive as consumer preferences shift.
