From sertanejo to arrocha, demand for carnival shows raises fees for stars of various styles; see figures

The demand for carnival shows in Brazil has increased average artist fees by over 25% in 2026.

In Brazil, the demand for carnival performances has surged, resulting in a significant hike in the average fees for top artists across different genres, showing an increase of over 25% for the year 2026. This uptick is reflective of the increasing popularity of various music styles, with many artists benefiting from higher valuations in this vibrant period of cultural celebration.

The data was compiled by G1 based on contracts available on the Nacional Portal of Public Contracts (PNCP), which provides public procurement information, especially those linked to municipal events for the carnival season. Among the top 40 most streamed artists on YouTube as of early February, 18 were found to have performance contracts during the carnival and in the latter half of 2025, enabling a comparative analysis of fees.

However, not all prominent artists were included in these figures, as those without disclosed contracts—primarily MCs and DJs from the funk genre—were omitted from the ranking. This raises questions about representation in market analyses and highlights the growing divide between streaming success and live performance contracts, particularly within the Brazilian music landscape during carnival festivities.
