Gift from the Railways on Mahashivaratri! Special Trains for Mahakal

In preparation for Mahashivaratri, the Indian Railways has announced special trains to accommodate the large number of devotees traveling to various temple locations in Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.

Mahashivaratri, a significant festival dedicated to Lord Shiva, will be celebrated on February 15, 2026, drawing numerous devotees to temples for darshan. Major gatherings are expected at famous locations like the Somnath temple in Gujarat and in Ujjain and Sehore for the Mahakal temple, indicating a substantial influx of pilgrims during this festive period. To manage this surge of passengers, the Western Railway's Ratlam division has introduced special mela trains. These special trains will operate between Ujjain and Bhopal and between Sant Hirdaram Nagar for a total of three pairs from February 13 to February 23, 2026. Additionally, a special unreserved train between Rajkot and Veraval is also set to run daily on special fares from February 13 to 17. These measures by the Indian Railways aim to facilitate the travel of numerous devotees and provide them with a convenient and comfortable travel option as they participate in the Mahashivaratri festivities.
