US top triathlete killed in car accident, driver fled the scene

Canadian triathlete and former NCAA champion Hannah Henry died in Phoenix after being struck by a car while riding her bicycle, with the driver fleeing the scene before being apprehended by police.

Hannah Henry, a 26-year-old Canadian triathlete known for her achievements including being a former NCAA champion, tragically lost her life in Phoenix, Arizona, after being hit by a car while riding on a bike path. The driver, identified as Eric Hodge, was reported to have made a right turn and struck Henry but fled the scene afterwards. Police were able to later detain Hodge, who admitted to driving the vehicle but claimed to have no memory of the incident due to ingesting fentanyl shortly before the accident, which he indicated leads him to lose consciousness.
