Has Musk Fallen into a Fantasy of 'White Supremacy'? Speaks of 'White Genocide' for a Month
Elon Musk's increasing obsession with white supremacy and his controversial statements about 'white genocide' have raised concerns among extremist researchers and the public.
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has been scrutinized for what some analysts see as an alarming fixation on white supremacy. According to a report by the UK-based Guardian, an analysis of Musk's posts on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) revealed that over a 26-day period in January, he emphasized claims of discrimination against white people and supported anti-immigrant conspiracy theories. Experts in extremism have pointed out a concerning shift in Musk's online behavior towards openly supporting extremist content related to white supremacy.
Musk's comments reached a notable height on January 22, shortly before attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, where he shared a video related to demographic changes by an anti-immigrant influencer from Ireland, asserting that 'whites are rapidly disappearing as a minority race.' In prior posts, Musk engaged with far-right narratives, like a conspiracy theory suggesting that as whites become a minority, they will face genocide. He even shared AI-generated content that targeted people of color and promoted extremist views concerning immigration, which aligns with far-right ideologies such as the Replacement Theory and remigration claims put forth by activists like Martin Sellner.
While Musk has a history of revealing his political leanings, recent reports indicate that he is becoming increasingly explicit in promoting white supremacist narratives through his platform, X. Despite asserting that he is not a racist or anti-Semitic, Musk's interactions and support for far-right figures and their claims raise serious questions about the responsibilities of individuals wielding significant influence on social media, particularly in light of potential societal implications that could arise from normalizing such extremist discourse within widely accessible public forums.
