Recent survey: more than 70% of residents rate the Government's work unfavorably

A recent survey indicates that over 70% of Lithuanians negatively evaluate the performance of the government led by Inga Ruginienė.

Between January 19 and 29, a survey conducted among residents revealed that 70.7% disapprove of the government's actions under Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė's leadership. This is a slight decrease in negative evaluations compared to previous months, where similar sentiments were noted in December among 38% of respondents, and in the months leading up to that, about 36.2% expressed dissatisfaction.

While the discontent appears to be prevailing, only 2.8% of respondents rated the government positively during this period, down from 3% in December. Furthermore, those who viewed the performance somewhat positively decreased from 17.1% to 14.6%. A notable portion of 11.9% of participants either could not provide an answer or were unsure about their evaluation of the government's performance.

The survey results suggest a significant disconnect between government actions and public sentiment, particularly as a related question about the favored candidate for the prime minister position saw I. Šimonytė emerging as a leading choice, with Ruginienė falling to a sixth-place rating. These insights into public opinion may have strategic implications for upcoming political dynamics in Lithuania, as dissatisfaction may impact future elections and policy decision-making.
