The Guild of Editors of Catalonia, which has represented publishing professionals since 1977, is preparing for a historic election on February 19 that will see a departure from its usual practice of appointing a consensus candidate for president. After eight years of leadership under Patrici Tixis, the current president and director of communication for Grupo Planeta, the guild's assembly will choose between two candidates, Román de Vicente and Daniel Fernández. Tixis, who was re-elected in 2021, has opted not to seek a third term despite a recent extraordinary assembly allowing him the option to run again. This election marks a significant shift in the guild's governance, indicating an evolution in the representation of the Catalan publishing sector.
