The case traces back to a missing person report filed on January 8, 2025, by Aziz Ahmed regarding his 16-year-old daughter. After an extensive investigation, skeletal remains, along with hair and clothes, were discovered in a sugarcane field by the Kailash River in September 2025. Subsequent DNA testing confirmed that the remains belonged to Ahmed's daughter, intensifying the police's scrutiny of the matter, leading to crucial evidence.
Investigations revealed that two individuals, Saleem Hussain and Asim alias Amit, were involved in the murders, attempting to flee to West Bengal when apprehended on February 11.
