The public defender appointed as the interventor of Turilândia will compile a report within 90 days to assess the municipality's administrative and financial situation following a scandal involving R$ 56 million embezzled from public funds.
Thiago Josino Carrilho de Arruda Macêdo, the public defender recently approved to serve as the interventor of Turilândia, Maranhão, has announced that his immediate priority will be to prepare a detailed report on the current state of the municipality’s administration within a 90-day period. This decision comes in the wake of a significant scandal in which local government officials, including the mayor, the vice-mayor, and several council members, were implicated in the embezzlement of R$ 56 million from public coffers. The small town, with a population of just over 30,000, is located approximately 160 kilometers from São Luís.
