Heavy snowfall precedes the major skiing event, with freezing cold on the way

Forecasters predict significant snowfall in the Tartu Marathon area, with temperatures dropping to minus twenty degrees Celsius.

Meteorologists have predicted that significant snowfall will occur in the vicinity of the Tartu Marathon from this evening until Saturday afternoon. As temperatures are expected to drop to about minus twenty degrees Celsius overnight on Saturday into Sunday in the regions of Otepää and Elva, this indicates that the marathon course may receive a fresh layer of snow just before the race. Ski enthusiasts are advised to carefully consider their attire given the weather conditions. The course master, Assar Küti, is set to begin work on the course just after midnight, with additional work planned for the following night. He emphasized that fresh snowfall would be beneficial for the snow conditions, indicating that although the classical track currently has poor conditions due to insufficient snow, more snow would allow for better skiing tracks.
