A woman was rescued unconscious from the sea at Bryggen in Bergen, while a man who jumped in to help was examined at a local clinic.
Two individuals, a woman and a man, were involved in an incident at Bryggen in Bergen, Norway, where they ended up in the water at around 11:36 PM on Thursday night. The West Police District reported that the woman fell into the water, prompting the man to jump in to assist her. Both were subsequently rescued by police patrols who arrived at the scene. While the woman was unconscious when pulled from the water, she was described as conscious when transported by ambulance to the hospital.
According to reports, the two individuals had come to be in the water between a veteran boat and the quay. This complicated their rescue, but responding teams managed to push the boat away and secured one of them with a rope to facilitate their retrieval. The local police commander, Bjarte Rebnord, provided updates to the press, emphasizing the quick response of their officers on the scene.
The incident raises concerns about safety measures at popular waterfront areas like Bryggen, especially during the late hours when visibility and supervision may be diminished. Local authorities may consider reviewing safety protocols in such high-risk areas to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
