The Federal Highway Police (PRF) dismantled a gang suspected of committing a series of qualified thefts across various cities in the Recôncavo region of Bahia. This operation took place early Thursday morning in the district of Humildes, Feira de Santana, which is the second largest city in the state. During the operation, law enforcement arrested three men and recovered stolen electronics, tools, and R$ 11,800 in cash.
The PRF initiated this operation following alerts about break-ins at commercial establishments in the municipalities of São Miguel das Matas, Varzedo, and Santo Antônio de Jesus. While conducting routine patrols, agents spotted a white VW/Saveiro pickup truck that was deemed suspicious as it left a gas station. The driver failed to stop when signaled by the officers and fled at high speed, leading to a pursuit.
After a brief chase, the vehicle was intercepted, resulting in the capture of the suspects and the recovery of stolen items. This successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts of the PRF to combat theft and enhance safety in the region, responding to community concerns about rising crime rates in specific areas of Bahia.
