The municipality of Brasilândia de Minas, located in the Triângulo Mineiro region of Brazil, has declared a state of emergency following extraordinary rainfall. The Civil Defense coordinator, Geraldo Pablo, stated that the area has experienced an unprecedented accumulation of 436 millimeters of rain over recent weeks, which is significantly above historical levels for the region. This extensive rainfall has led to the local river, Paracatu, rising five meters above its normal level, causing serious disruptions to the community.

As a consequence of the severe weather, classes have been suspended, and the rural area has faced considerable challenges. Reports indicate that one building has collapsed, one person has been displaced, and eight homes have been inundated by floodwaters. The Civil Defense is monitoring the situation closely as it unfolds, emphasizing the profound impact on the local infrastructure, including the compromise of approximately 600 kilometers of rural roads, which has hindered access in several areas.
