Motorcyclist dies after being hit by a truck on the Anchieta highway

A motorcyclist lost control and was fatally struck by a truck on the Anchieta highway in Cubatão, Brazil.

A tragic incident occurred on the morning of Thursday, October 12, when a motorcyclist lost control of their vehicle and was subsequently run over by a truck on the Anchieta highway in Cubatão, São Paulo. The incident took place around 7:50 AM at kilometer 59 on the coastal route. According to reports from Ecovias, the operator responsible for the Anchieta-Imigrantes system, the motorcyclist fell between lanes 1 and 2, which led to the driver's inability to stop in time to avoid a collision.

Emergency services, including the local highway police and crews from Ecovias, responded promptly to the scene. Unfortunately, the motorcyclist succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the site of the accident. This resulted in a partial closure of the highway as authorities worked to manage the situation and ensure safety at the accident site.

Traffic was diverted to the marginal lane near kilometer 59, affecting the flow of vehicles until the situation was under control. The two affected lanes were closed temporarily but were reopened by 9:03 AM, allowing traffic to return to normal. This incident highlights the importance of road safety and control, particularly in busy highways, and serves as a reminder for all drivers to be cautious and alert on the roads.
