Harri Kirvesniemi was horrified by the skiing scandal: 'A completely shocking advantage'

Finnish ski expert Harri Kirvesniemi expressed shock over allegations that Norwegian and US teams violated ski waxing rules during a recent men's sprint competition.

On Thursday evening, news broke that teams from Norway and the United States were suspected of breaking ski waxing regulations during the men's sprint event, sparking outrage in the skiing community. Finnish athlete Lauri Vuorinen finished fourth in the race, with only competitors from the questioned nations, Norway’s Johannes Kläbo and Oskar Vike, along with the USA's Ben Ogden, finishing ahead of him. Allegations suggest that the US team may have used glide wax during the sprint's heats, while the Norwegian team allegedly brought an electric waxing machine to the service area, both contraventions of International Ski Federation (FIS) regulations that prohibit contact with the waxing areas between heats.
