Graham Potter on the injuries of the stars: 'It will be tough'
Sweden's national football team is facing potential key player injuries ahead of their important playoff match against Ukraine on March 26.
Ahead of a crucial playoff match against Ukraine on March 26, the Swedish national football team is battling injury concerns with several star players, notably Dejan Kulusevski and Alexander Isak who have been sidelined for some time. National team head coach Graham Potter addressed these concerns during a digital press conference, expressing uncertainty about their recovery but noting that there is still time for them to return to fitness, particularly if they continue their rehabilitation effectively with their respective clubs.
Potter indicated that while there is hope for Kulusevski and Isak to regain their fitness in time for the match, the nature of their injuries makes it a challenging prospect. He emphasized that both players have access to strong rehabilitation teams, which provides a glimmer of optimism for their participation. However, he acknowledged that returning to form within such a tight schedule is difficult, and he remains cautious in his expectations.
In addition to Kulusevski and Isak, Potter updated reporters about the status of two other players, Lucas Bergvall and goalkeeper Viktor Johansson, who are also dealing with injuries. He conveyed an encouraging message, stating that all four players are working hard with their clubs for recovery and have expressed optimism about being able to compete in the upcoming playoff, though the situation remains fluid depending on their recovery progress.
