Carnival Holiday: These are the best times to travel and avoid rain on the road
Ecuador's Carnival holiday prompts many to travel to the beach, with recommended travel times to avoid heavy traffic.
Ecuador is set to celebrate its second holiday of the year, Carnival, on February 16 and 17. Many Ecuadorians often seize this opportunity to travel to the beach, as this time of year offers ideal conditions for enjoying sun and sea. However, those traveling by car must be mindful of traffic conditions and the times at which they choose to hit the road.
According to the Ecuadorian Transit Commission (CTE), previous years have shown a significant increase in vehicular volume at tolls starting from 10:00 AM heading towards beach resorts, with the return traffic peaking between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Therefore, the CTE advises travelers to avoid these peak hours to prevent getting stuck in traffic.
To enjoy a smoother journey, it's recommended to leave for the coast before 10:00 AM or after 8:00 PM, when traffic tends to be lighter. Overall, planning ahead can enhance the travel experience during these festive days, ensuring both safety and enjoyment during Ecuador's Carnival celebrations.
