The New Left party in Greece has announced the appointments of Peti Perka as the new Press Representative and Dimitris Tsanakoopoulos as the Secretary of the Parliamentary Group. Perka, a professionally trained civil engineer, is noted for her extensive involvement in the leftist movement and social struggles, indicating a strong commitment to the party's principles.
Peti Perka hails from Florina and is a graduate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Her background includes active participation in multiple leftist movements and social causes, showing her long-standing dedication to political activism. Her previous roles include being a member of the Central Committee of SYN, and later SYRIZA, as well as serving as Vice President and General Secretary of the Union of Technical Employees of Greece (EMDYDAS).
The acknowledgment of Tsanakoopoulos as the Secretary of the Parliamentary Group strengthens the party's organizational capability. Both leaders bring significant experience and political acumen, suggesting that the New Left aims to revitalise its presence and influence in Greek politics, especially as it navigates through the changing landscape influenced by various socio-economic factors.
