Baby who fell from car in the middle of avenue in Sorocaba is discharged from hospital
A five-month-old baby who fell out of a car in Sorocaba, Brazil, has been discharged from the hospital after being treated for neurological observation following the incident.
A five-month-old baby, who fell from the back seat of a car onto a busy avenue in Sorocaba, São Paulo, has recently been discharged from the hospital after a few days of neurological observation. The incident occurred on Sunday evening, and the child was admitted to the Conjunto Hospitalar de Sorocaba, where medical staff monitored her for any potential neurological issues as a result of the fall. Medical professionals were able to confirm she was conscious and stable at the time of her discharge on Thursday.
The accident took place when the car's driver, fleeing a chaotic situation at a nearby bar, accelerated down the Avenida Edward Fru Fru Marciano da Silva at high speed. While attempting to make a sharp turn, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing the back door to swing open violently and ejecting the baby onto the roadway. Bystanders and a motorcycle rider who was stopped at a red light witnessed the event, with the rider successfully rescuing the child from the asphalt before further chaos ensued as the driver crashed into a nearby pole after losing control.
This incident raises concerns regarding child safety in vehicles, particularly in situations where drivers may be distracted or overwhelmed by external conflicts. It also underscores the importance of secure car seats for infants, as well as awareness of the potential dangers present in high-tension environments. Authorities may need to review and reinforce traffic safety laws to prevent similar incidents in the future, especially in areas where public interactions can escalate into dangerous situations for children and other innocents nearby.
