The upcoming carnival in Campinas, São Paulo, is forecasted to witness bouts of heavy rain and potential hail, but there are also expected sunny spells to the delight of revelers. According to the Center for Meteorological and Climatic Research Applied to Agriculture (Cepagri), a respite from the rain is anticipated over the weekend, with temperatures likely soaring above 30ºC.
However, despite the forecast indicating improved weather conditions, civil defense authorities advise residents and carnival-goers to remain vigilant for signs of storms and know when to seek shelter. The outlook for the actual carnival days shows that while the weather might improve, isolated thunderstorms can develop, characterized by lightning, strong winds, and even hail.
On Friday (February 13), the forecast indicates a minimum temperature of 20ºC and a maximum of 30ºC, starting with sunny intervals but increasing cloudiness in the afternoon, with the risk of severe thunderstorms. On Saturday (February 14) and Sunday (February 15), conditions are expected to stabilize further, with temperatures rising to a maximum of 32ºC, suggesting more dependable weather for outdoor carnival activities.
