Morena exceeds its membership goal in just one year: "We are millions"
The Mexican political party Morena has surpassed its membership goal, enrolling over 12 million people in its national campaign within a year.
In the first year and 16 days of its national recruitment campaign "We are Millions," Mexico's political party Morena, led by Secretary of Organization Andrés Manuel López Beltrán, announced that they have successfully recruited 12,083,088 members, exceeding their initial goal by over 2 million. This achievement reflects the party's ongoing efforts to mobilize support amidst a challenging political landscape.
López Beltrán shared this significant milestone on social media, emphasizing the importance of grassroots organization with the statement: "Only the people can save the people, and only an organized people can save the nation." This indicates the party's strategy to strengthen its base and engage citizens directly in their political process, which has been vital for Morena's identity and growth.
With an average of 31,714 new members joining daily, and a total of 2.3 million existing members at the end of 2023, this surge translates to a 5.2-fold increase in membership. Such growth positions Morena as a formidable force in Mexican politics, revealing the party's effectiveness in appealing to a broad demographic and potentially shifting the balance of political power as it prepares for upcoming electoral challenges.
