Sales start 2026 with a 6.8% increase
Ecuador's Internal Revenue Service reports a 6.8% increase in sales in January 2026 compared to the previous year, particularly driven by growth in administrative services, real estate, and construction.
In January 2026, the Internal Revenue Service (SRI) of Ecuador reported a notable 6.8% increase in sales, indicating a robust start to the year. The total sales reached approximately $20.391 billion, up from $19.097 billion in January 2024. This growth reflects positive dynamics across various sectors of the economy, signaling potential for continued expansion.
Particularly striking was the increase in administrative services, which saw an impressive 22.3% rise in sales, climbing from $303 million to $370 million. Real estate also demonstrated significant growth, with a 21.1% increase in sales, totaling $295 million. The construction sector reported $395 million in sales, marking a 20.9% growth, while professional services rose from $628 million to $706 million, a gain of 12.5%. Although the commerce sector remains the largest contributor to total sales at $8.326 billion, its growth rate was the lowest at 7.2%, suggesting a more measured pace of expansion.
These figures highlight a favorable performance across several economic segments in Ecuador, as reported by the SRI. The increased activity across these sectors at the beginning of the year positions the economy on a potentially sustainable growth trajectory, which could influence policy decisions and economic planning moving forward.
